Save the date: June 18th Contship will participate to Containerisation International Awards 2015
Contship Italia Group, led by Cecilia Battistello, will be joining a number of industry peers, with representatives of global and regional shipping lines, ports, terminal operators, cargo owners, forwarders, classification societies and other institutions also present, on the occasion of the annual CI Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the industry. The event will take place in London, June 18th.
Whilst the awards ceremony will recognise a number of Contship Italia Group direct customers, on this occasion, the Group regional gateway terminal is also included in the category in the “Environmental Campaign of the Year Award”, as La Spezia Container Terminal contribution to responsible and sustainable development is recognized.
Michele Giromini, Managing Director, La Spezia Container Terminal, explains “….being physically located both in an area of nature with the beautiful Gulf of La Spezia as our front door and the town of La Spezia, effectively being our living room and back garden, the terminal has evolved with these positive attributes, ensuring the environment and well-being of the people. The higher usage of rail, is more widely known, but in addition, we consider shore side power developments, noise reduction and LNG as being perquisites for the future, now today. We have developed a customized software as a development tool for the footprint of the terminal and all of this is recognized in our submission to be nominated as a finalist….”
Michael Cashman, Commercial Director, Contship Italia Group, Maritime Terminals, adds “….container terminals have a reputation as a heavy industry, but this is largely historical. Life is full of choices. LSCT choice is to ensure quality of life for future generations as well as quality of service. On a lighter note, as we are competing with a number of valued customers in the same category, we look forward, together with members of our senior management team to meeting with customers and friends alike. May the best nomination win! Perhaps there will be some surprises!”
