Un po’ di Cile nel mare della Sardegna!

The Tucapel calls Cagliari International Container Terminal.

Named after a river in Chile and a fortress town originally established in the mid-16th century just over 500 km south of Santiago, CICT gave a warm welcome to the latest maiden-caller the m/v Tucapel when she berthed on March 28th. Deployed in the IOS service connecting North Europe with the Indian sub-Continent, the 2012 built 8,000 teu ship, at 300m long is part of a group of seven post-Panamax-Plus ships operated by Hapag-Lloyd and named after Chilean waterways. Her sister ships are the Tolten, welcomed already on March 21st, the Tubul, Tirua, Teno, Torrente and Tempanos, with the latter three scheduled to make their maiden visit to CICT within the next six weeks. With operations completed on time, the Tucapel sailed in the early hours the next day, on schedule.
