INSIDE THE INDUSTRY: Italy logistics quality index: a new indicator to sum up the satisfaction of Italian manufacturers on logistic corridors for seaborn containerised trades
The efficiency of the logistics corridors, used by Italian manufacturing companies to sell goods, buy raw materials or semi-finished products in international markets, strongly influences the competitiveness of their products, and should be viewed as a vital component of productivity to boost demand for such products on a global scale.
To address this, Contship, in partnership with SRM – Studi e Ricerche per il Mezzogiorno (a centre for economic studies and research part of Intesa Sanpaolo Group), developed the Report “Corridors and logistics efficiency of territories” and created a new index, to identify the logistic factors to which manufacturing companies in Italy give greater importance, and the quality perceived by these companies.
The study, focused on logistics corridors used for seaborne trades only, serves as a tool for institutions, logistic operators, as well as trade associations in defining their business strategy and foster growth and development of Italy’s logistics sector in the coming years. […]

INSIDE THE INDUSTRY: Transalpine trailblazer – Laying the tracks for the future
What’s Switzerland’s secret for successfully shifting the bulk of transalpine cargo transport from road to rail within 25 years? The answer is clear: a host of innovative policy and funding measures have incentivised that switch.
In the early 90s, the Swiss were already laying the tracks for shifting cargo transport from road to rail – years before the launch of international initiatives such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement calling upon government and industry to commit to stringent environmental targets to combat climate change.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Contship Italia and Eurogate exhibit at Transport Logistic 2019
In 1956, containers changed the rules and the dynamics of the logistic industry. A few years later, in 1969 Angelo Ravano founded Contship Group, to transport disassembled FIAT Model 124 from Turin to the Somaca plant, in Morocco; it was the beginning of intermodal transport in Italy. With equal success, in 1999, EUROKAI and Bremer Lagerhaus Gesellschaft (BLG) signed a joint venture and established EUROGATE, which now looks back at a 20 year history.
Contship prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary at Transport Logistic 2019, together with Eurogate 20th jubilee of its own foundation. The joint celebration will take place in Munich, on June 4th to June 7th.
Visit us at Hall B4 in booth 111-210 to celebrate and discuss about the latest business news, including the new Milan-Lyon rail service, extended connectivity to Switzerland and Germany, the Italy-China intermodal connections and the new investment plan to boost the Group’s maritime terminal network capacity.

Contship Diary 2019-2020 – another step ahead for Contship’s most famous CSR project PORTO LAB
The 2019-2020 edition of the Contship Diary, part of the PORTO LAB project, is on its way to the print! The new Diary celebrates the 50th anniversary of Contship foundation, through a parallelism with the moon landing of 1969: an opportunity to talk with students about the challenges of transporting goods and equipment, the fundamental role of team work and specialized skills, gear and safety, routing and distances, fuel and sustainability.
