On Thursday, July 18th, La Spezia Container Terminal welcomed a delegation from SKF
SKF, market leader in the ball bearings industry, is a historic sponsor of the Porto Lab project – the project that allowed tens of thousands of students from Italian primary schools to enter and explore Contship’s container terminals and ports.
Guests of the Contship Terminal in La Spezia visited the operational areas supervised by Porto Lab tutors and the SKF delegations witnessed the coordination and planning of operations directly from the terminal’s control room, which supervises terminal activities 24/7.
The visit continued in the Lune Blu restaurant of the “AUT AUT” foundation which was founded in 2017, with the aim of helping young adults with autism spectrum disorder in finding a job in the tourist sector (www.aut-aut.eu/).
The day ended with a visit at the Naval Museum, founded in 1925 by the Italian Navy (Marina Militare), which beholds traditions and testimonials of the maritime world, whilst showcasing the technical history of shipbuilding and sea vehicles used during the wars. The museum boasts one of the most antique collections of figureheads used on vessel bows. La Spezia’s Naval Museum is in fact one of the most important naval museums in Italy.
A big thank you goes to SKF, valued partner of the Porto Lab project.
