Friday June 5th took place in Ravenna the first edition of “Portolascuola”
Portolascuola is an event organized by Ravenna sailing club, with the patronage of Regione Emilia Romagna, the Province and the Municipality of Ravenna, and the sponsorship of many partners, including TCR: a unique opportunity to discover old traditions and contemporary excellence, making new generations aware of the value of the port-system for the whole local community.
Many stands have been prepared to interact with the 600 boys and girls, coming from 28 different classes of Ravenna middle schools; TCR set up its stands with a balance table game, used to explain the importance of a correct cargo positioning planning for efficient and safe container carrier ships operations.
Great satisfaction for the success of the meeting. Organizers are already working on the 2016 edition, whose goal will be to engage all the schools of the city and the whole port community, to grow further the scope and scale of the event, connecting the initiative with other similar local experiences. Milena Fico, TCR General Manager, commented: “I want to express my gratitude to all participants, individuals and institutions, and our appreciation for the precious support and the engagement of our partners Sapir and Contship Italia, in this initiative. We truly need and appreciate the enthusiasm of younger generations. This is way we consider our commitment towards the local community as an investment, whose payoff is both immediate and long lasting: every time we get “recharged” by the energy and the positive feedback generated by these meetings, but we also know we are planting the seed of curiosity, starting new conversations and interactions, that in turn enable new opportunities for the future, for both local communities and local businesses.“
