Cagliari International Container Terminal (CICT) continues to work with technical schools, sharing its experience and know-how for the professional development of young Sardinians.
Last October CICT started working with the I.T.S. Mo.So.S., a technical school in Cagliari, for a total of 35 hours on the topic: "The Maritime Company and its organization". The initiative is part of a larger project which is meant for young graduates from the Nautical Institutes of the whole island in order to achieve the qualification of "Diploma as a Technician for the mobility of people and goods".
The teaching, provided by CICT QSE (Quality, Safety and Environment) Manager Mario Cortassa, ended in the month of December 2015. The training was divided into a series of lectures, in which they discussed the role of a modern terminal operator who operates in the maritime sector, and the day's workshop was completed at the CICT Terminal where students could directly observe cargo handling methods used in a modern container terminal.
“The initiative - says Franco Cupolo (CICT’s Managing Director) - represented a very positive experience especially for the young people involved by offering a "hands-on experience" of the organizational complexity of an operational reality of fundamental importance to the economic development of Sardinia. This is done through container handling and thanks to the connectivity offered by the network of our Shipping Line clients. The initiative opens the doors to global trading of Sardinian products and lets clients quickly reach competitive world markets.”
