On Friday 20th and Saturday 21th February 2015 the first workshop of the ‘Borsa Internazionale delle Imprese Italo-Arabe’ took place on Terminal Crociere - Molo Ichnusa, in Cagliari, an event sponsored by the Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce.
Cagliari International Container Terminal (CICT) supported the event as a main sponsor. The two-day workshop was attended by approximately one hundred Sardinian enterprises, among the most important in the main productive sectors of Regione Sardinia, as well as over 30 firms from North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt), Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Qatar, representing several different business areas, from agribusiness to construction and high tech.
The target of the event was to enable the matching of business interests between domestic and foreign companies, in their own territory. Ten different thematic workshops have been designed during the two days, attended by local, national and international institutions representatives. During B2B meetings, CICT, together with a group of local shippers, promoted the terminal specific function of Sardinian gateway for import and export flows, further focusing its value proposition on the competitive transit times available for each weekly and fortnightly direct connection between Cagliari and both the North African and East Med regions.
Leandro Ferrari, CICT Customer Service manager, commented: "... It was a very interesting workshop and we were able to highlight the great opportunities for the development of domestic trade and therefore the role of Cagliari as a gateway for Sardinian cargo flows and home-port for North African markets. A role that is growing over time, thanks to our valued customers support providing regular and competitive maritime services. The Sardinian economy can look at the container port of Cagliari as a strategic logistics partner to develop their business internationally. "
