INTERMODEL project: KPI's White Smoke Meeting in Melzo & La Spezia

Contship Italia Group, partner of the Intermodel project, an initiative co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Horizon 2020 program, recently hosted in Milan – Melzo and La Spezia the first operational meeting of the project.

Contship, through its subsidiary RHM – Rail Hub Milano & LSCT - La Spezia Container Terminal, will take part in the first pilot project, which is expected to provide data to be used to validate an innovative model, based on the BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology, a computational representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a structure, including information about its life cycle, modeled using open standards to support the decision making process.

The goal of the project is to develop an “investment decision making tool”, useful for both public institutions and private organizations and based on the application of the BIM modelling technology to the logistic processes and the terminal operations management, in tune with the European Union's choice to adopt new quantitative tools to support investment strategies for maritime and intermodal terminals, in order to reduce as much as possible unproductive investments, through an increasingly realistic and effective planning.
